Individuals looking for EMDR Training and Certification can become EMDR consultants by joining LK Institute's Consultant-in-Training Program. This program includes both EMDRIA and LK requirements to provide the consultant-in-training the best practice and experience. See below for full requirements. EMDR Certification and Training Programs

  1. Must meet all criteria mentioned above for EMDR Certification through LK Institute.
  2. Attend two EMDRIA Approved EMDR Trainings through LK Institute. If you have previously attended an EMDRIA Approved EMDR Training through LK Institute, that counts as one attended training.
  3. Serve as practicum staff at two EMDRIA Approved EMDR Trainings Through LK Institute. The first practicum will be observation of LK Staff, while the second will be doing practicum on your own or while LK Staff observe you. 
  4. Provide EMDR Consultation to at least five consultees (minimum three individual hours per consultee). These consultees must have already completed EMDR Basic Training, including the ten hours of consultation.
  5. Must record videos of yourself providing individual and/or group consultation, to be reviewed in Consultation of Consultation meetings.
  6. Must demonstrate knowledge of assessment and treatment of dissociative disorders using EMDR Psychotherapy. 

EMDRIA encourages Approved Consultants to set their own EMDR Training and Certification standards in addition to their requirements listed above – Approved Consultants of LK Institute will offer a Letter of Recommendation to candidates that fulfill these requirements:

  1. Complete EMDR Consultation agreement paperwork.
  2. Attend LK Institute EMDRIA Approved EMDR Basic Training.
  3. Provide recorded video(s) of yourself completing Safe/Calm Place Protocol and Resource Development and Installation (RDI) Protocol with client(s).
  4. Provide recorded video(s) of yourself completing phases 3-7 of an EMDR target with client(s).
  5. Provide recorded video(s) of yourself completing phase 8 with client(s).
  6. Provide recoded video(s) of yourself completing Future Template with client(s).
  7. Must be able to provide a new recording if Consultant provides feedback and requests correction.
  8. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of how and when to utilize Cognitive Interweaves.
  9. Must become familiar with identifying dissociation and how to treat it when it comes up. Must be able to describe when to use Cognitive Interweaves vs Parts Work.
  10. Must complete at least fifteen hours of Consultation with LK Institute Consultant.
